The overall master plan WTW authored for a series of phased learner-centric renovations after The University Libraries opened its transformational Tombros & McWhirter Knowledge Commons in 2013 continued with designing what is now the top-grossing Starbucks on any college campus in North America.

The new 3,800 SF Starbucks is strategically placed next to the new 9,150 SF News & Periodicals area and the 1,250 SF MacKinnon’s Lounge, together, the newly refurbished spaces provide opportunities for group study and expanded student seating as well as for newspaper services Cataloging & Acquisitions Departments were relocated and incorporate progressive interior design strategies to optimize workflow.

The renovated 11,200 SF space provides faculty and staff offices and workspaces, as well as focus rooms, small conference rooms, and a kitchenette with cafe tables for use by all Libraries faculty and staff to foster collaboration.
