Hilltop Hall is the newest residence hall on the SUNY Poly Utica campus. It is a four-story, 78,000 SF residence hall that is home to 257 students. The residence hall features a mix of both single and double hotel-style units (totaling 133 units) grouped in communities of 37 students, centered around a common amenity space. Common facilities include a large common lounge, multipurpose room, game room, laundry, vending, bike storage, offices, and Resident Director apartment.
The building has been designed to Passive House standards to maximize energy savings through increased envelope insulation, attention to air barrier & vapor retarder detailing, and high efficiency windows. Other building features include maximum efficiency HVAC systems, a geothermal system, LED lighting, and a large solar array to ensure the building does not use more energy than it produces. Hilltop Hall is the first SUNY System residence hall to meet Net Zero Carbon certification requirements.
This project was completed in association with HKK Architects.
