Campus bookstores are a necessity for every higher education institution. They serve a variety of purposes - meeting student needs, facilitating a sense of campus pride, and acting as a welcoming place for visitors and potential students. WTW's long history of completing higher education projects includes the design and implementation of campus bookstores throughout multiple types of facilities, specifically student unions. The colocation of the campus "living room" and this meeting point for visitors and the campus community is a program element that makes sense on most campuses. The design of a bookstore inside of a larger facility requires a collaborative design process with the operator while ensuring that the location is prominent and easily accessible throughout the building. The photos depict just a few bookstores that WTW has completed at various institutions.
Fun Fact: The student union at the University of Akron, designed by WTW, is home to the first campus Barnes & Noble store.
