The Student Center dining facility was transformed to create openness and transparency that improves circulation to the retail food concepts. The new food court offers a ‘restaurant experience’ dining area for students to gather, hold events, and socialize.
The existing three story atrium provided the opportunity to create additional study and hang out spaces for students. Anchored by a new extended hours Starbucks, the atrium has become a dynamic late night option for students.
The design and construction team jointly developed a fast-track schedule that allowed the atrium and food court to be fully renovated over the summer months, delivering on a commitment to have the new facilities opened and operating before the start of the fall semester. The team successfully coordinated the design/ construction sequence to maintain the operation of all other Gittis Center programs throughout the construction period.
