Campus, Expansion and Renovation, Lake Erie College of Ostepathic Medicine
With its 55,000-square-foot building bursting at the seams and recent land acquisition, it was time for a master plan at LECOM. WTW inventoried the school’s needs and established a 10-year development program for the campus.

The first phase of that program is a 75,000-square-foot addition and renovation project that doubles the enrollment capacity. A full range of academic and support spaces are provided in the new four-story addition. They include leading-edge technology classrooms, each incorporating laptop interface from every seat; a 12,000-square-foot library with multiple seminar rooms; computer center; distance learning facilities/video conferencing; specialized medical teaching classrooms; and new administrative offices.
The entry atrium also houses the school’s extensive Museum of Osteopathic Medicine.
This complex, multi-phased interior renovation of two libraries includes approximately 44,000 square feet, all within the libraries’ 24-Hour Zone.
Together, these new spaces will serve as a hub for students to gather, exchange ideas, collaborate, and utilize multiple technologies in a variety of specialized, yet flexible spaces outfitted with multiple styles of “smart” furniture that not only encourage, but facilitate collaboration.
