The new facility was designed with two goals in mind: to reflect the early 20th-century style of the existing historic student union and commons building, and to transform the facility to enhance the contemporary student experience.

A central atrium serves as a welcoming lounge that visually connects to the second floor. A terrace provides spectacular views of the campus below and mountains beyond.
Expanded food service options, a post office, bookstore, student organizations and activities spaces, and meeting/banquet facilities all address identified needs and opportunities.
The design of the campus center was based on a detailed assessment of needs prepared by WTW.
