Pattee Library Media & Maker Commons at the Tombros & McWhirter Knowledge Commons, The Pennsylvania State University
This renovation created the new Media and Maker Commons Innovation Center adjacent to Pattee and Paterno Libraries’ Knowledge Commons. The Media Commons features multimedia production suites where users can record their own podcasts; the flexibility of the suites allows them to double as Group Study Rooms.

The Maker Commons Innovation Center houses a 3D printer bank and provides access to a variety of production tools. The Maker Commons also features the Invention Studio, an academic makerspace where users can explore rapid prototyping using materials and devices such as LittleBits, Arduino, Raspberry Pi, and LEGO®. The use of these resources and open-source hardware supports critical thinking and active learning pedagogies.
