Hilltop Hall, SUNY-Polytechnic Institute
The four-story, 78,000 SF residence hall will be home to 257 students on SUNY-Polytechnic Institute’s campus in Utica, NY. The residence hall features a mix of both single and double hotel-style units grouped in communities of 37 students, centered around a common amenity space with kitchens, communal lounges, and study spaces on each floor.
The building has been designed to Passive House standards to maximize energy savings through increased envelope insulation, attention to air barrier & vapor retarder detailing, and high efficiency windows. Other building features include maximum efficiency HVAC systems, a geothermal system, LED lighting, and a large solar array to ensure the building does not use more energy than it produces.
Hilltop Hall is the first SUNY System residence hall to meet Net Zero Carbon certification requirements.
