Before breaking ground on this new residence hall, the WTW team spearheaded a study to assist the University in best assessing student needs. The study paved the way for a residence hall that created a synergy between academics, resident life, and campus dining programs by designing a facility that is a gateway for the campus.

This seven-story residence hall for first-year students includes 699 beds, a central dining facility with seating for 550, fitness center, living/learning seminar rooms, and open lounge/study spaces throughout the building. A combination of unit types are available and central community spaces on each floor bring students together and create community. The dining facility is open to residents and the rest of the campus community alike, and also features a hands-on learning space for the College of Hospitality.

The building is located in the center of campus adjacent to the academic core. The building’s location makes in coordination with the common arenas and dining offerings has made this building a secondary gathering place on Vermont’s campus. A bridge directly connects the residence hall to a new annex space within the entrance to the Howe Library.
