Pennsylvania General Energy Headquarters
Pennsylvania General Energy was excited about relocating their headquarters to the two-story, 26,000-square-foot elementary school, yet afraid of its adaptability into a state-of-the-art facility.
Working through the programming, adjacencies, and stacking required for efficient operations, the design team opened up the floor plates and volumes to the structure above and enhanced the large existing glazed openings allowing natural light to penetrate deep into almost every space.
Inside, the headquarters reflects the nature of PGE’s business with flexible spaces punctuated by ample map storage and pin-up surfaces. Large boulders, native to the region, are set in strategic locations within the public spaces.
