Housing Master Plan, Indiana University of Pennsylvania
Officials at IUP recognized that its housing stock was no longer attractive to 21st century students or contributing to student retention. IUP challenged WTW Architects to create an energetic residence life master plan, one that would reinvent the campus. In order to establish the vision, objectives, and requirements for this user-focused master plan, the WTW team provided a variety of fact finding and analytical services, including the analysis of existing programs and facilities, housing trends, and the market place. Interactive focus groups were conducted, as well as on-line surveys.
Upon completion of these activities, the WTW team conducted work-sessions with staff, faculty, students, and the campus community to establish the key design features of the Residence Life Master Plan, including creating courtyard communities, integrating Campus Life Amenities into the Residence Halls, linking the campus to Downtown, and replacing approximately 3,400 outdated beds on campus.
