A mainstay of college life is the need for recreation. A place to burn off steam, stretch the legs and enjoy some friendly competition. Our approach to campus recreation centers is simple: make them as flexible as the students who use them. A recreation center has to blend in with the buildings that surround it, yet stand out as a symbol of the university’s commitment to nutrition, health and wellbeing. It has to encourage social exchange and promote a healthy, well-rounded, longterm lifestyle. It also has to be transparent so multiple areas can be viewed at one time for increased awareness and security, while retaining the ability to be easily reconfigured for different activities and functions.
